Man City's Nasri planning to step up in Toure, Silva absences

Samir Nasri intends on filling the void for Manchester City against Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

The French playmaker will get an opportunity to make a rare start this season when the reigning Premier League champions host the Bundesliga title-holders in Group E of the Champions League.

Yaya Toure is suspended and David Silva injured as Manuel Pellegrini looks for an apt replacement which Nasri is planning to be at the Etihad Stadium in what is a crunch match for the club.

"I am not going to be the only one," he said.

"But, yes, I have to stand up and show my quality. That's how it is if you want to be a major player.

"That's why you see the big players perform in big games."

A groin injury has kept Nasri sidelined recently but he managed to get through almost 80 minutes of the weekend's 2-1 win over Swansea City which suggests he is almost at peak fitness.

"Speaking for myself, the game against Swansea was the first time I felt 100% and fully fit," he added.
