Man City's McGivern: Hibs did well to keep Celtic to three goals

Hibernian loanee Ryan McGivern believes the team performed decently in the Scottish Cup final on Sunday after they gave away two early goals.

The Edinburgh club were beaten 3-0 by Celtic at Hampden but defender McGivern, on loan from Manchester City, felt it was an ok showing after conceding twice in the opening half hour to Gary Hooper.

"Going 2-0 down to Celtic we could have let the heads drop and collapsed so it became five or six," said the 23-year old left-back.

"So credit to the lads because we kept at it. I don't think we were disgraced or embarrassed here.

"The goals we lost were very sloppy, they should not have been conceded.

"But we deserve credit for the way we kept playing and could have scored ourselves.

"But we are very disappointed because when you get to a final you are here to win.

"We started the game really well, but conceded two really poor goals.

"You can't do that against the champions because it makes life so difficult for you.

"We had chances of our own and kept the ball well at times, but we just lost to the better side on the day."
