Man City's Kompany: Our season will be fine if we win FA Cup

Vincent Kompany says Manchester City's season will be a success if they manage to win the FA Cup next month.

Last season's Premier League champions have relinquished their title to neighbours and new champions Manchester United, who moved 16 points clear with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa tonight, but skipper Kompany is still gunning for a cup triumph over Wigan Athletic at Wembley.

"Has this been a good season? Historically, it is but, having tasted success last year, we still wanted to win," he told RMC.

"That said, it is not always easy with all the teams who target the Premier League title.

"Our season will also depend on the cup final. If we win, it'll be fine.

"It will not be easy. The Wembley pitch is huge and Wigan are a team who play good football with their Spanish coach (Roberto Martinez). They play in an unusual system compared to the other teams of the Premier League.

"There is a risk but we were fully awake during the game we played against them recently. We will not be surprised."
