Man City's Hughes: We looked likely to get three points

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes believed his team looked more likely to get three points despite going a goal down against Aston Villa.

City's Craig Bellamy managed to cancel out Richard Dunne's first-half goal with just over twenty minutes left and Hughes thought his team were very capable of creating a winner after playing some positive football.

"In the second half we were starting to get a real foothold in the game, were in the ascendancy and looked the team more likely to get maximum points," Hughes told ESPN.

"At times we left ourselves open to the counter-attack but we were really positive.

"Maybe down the line we'll see it as a good point but we always want three.

"We've played better. At times our passing was a bit off, but fair play to the lads, they've shown great qualities."

Hughes added that it was inevitable former City captain Dunne would score against his old team but said it was nice to see him doing well.

"That was the story that was always going to be written," he added.

"We're pleased 'Dunny' has come to another club and he's doing well.

"We'd have preferred he hadn't scored against us."
