Manchester City are eyeing Athletic Bilbao midfielder Javi Martinez.

City boss Roberto Mancini still wants a ball-winner for his midfield, with concerns over Nigel de Jong's new contract demands.

Mancini sees Martinez as an alternative to No1 midfield transfer target Daniele de Rossi, of AS Roma. Martinez has also been a long-term target for Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

He is tied to Bilbao until 2016 and won't be sold for less than £20 million.
