Manchester City remain in the hunt for VfL Wolfsburg winger Kevin de Bruyne. The Daily Star Sunday says Manuel Pellegrini, set for a third season at The Etihad, was confident of landing De Bruyne, 23, for £35m.
But the Germans are so keen to keep the Belgian that they've offered him an extension on his current four-year contract, a bumper pay rise - and upped his value to £58m.
His agent Patrick De Koster has admitted he has had discussions with City's director of football Txiki Begiristain.
De Koster said: "I have met the people from Manchester City and we know each other. I have never spoken to anyone from United but a lot of clubs have been in touch."
