Manchester City are lining up a bid for Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor.

The News of the World says Taylor will be a cut-price Manchester City target in January.

The England prospect is off contract in June and yet to agree terms over a new deal.

City chiefs are keen to take Taylor to Eastlands in the winter market.
