Manchester City have tabled a £6 million offer for Liverpool midfielder Yossi Benayoun.
The Daily Mail says Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez must sell before making another bid for Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry, and the opportunity of a £1m profit on Benayoun could be too good to reject.
West Ham boss Alan Curbishley asked about Benayoun but is unlikely to match City's bid.
