Manchester City signing Ilkay Gundogan plans to be fit by the end of August.
The 25-year-old midfielder signed with City from Borussia Dortmund in a £21million deal earlier this month but will be sidelined for the start of his first season at his new club.
Gundogan dislocated his knee during training with Dortmund in May and although he is sidelined for the time being, says he should be back in action early in the 2016/17 campaign.
"I hope to be fit by the end of August or first week of September," he told The Sun.
"You can't be absolutely sure and we gauge it week-by-week but that's my target and if everything goes to plan it will be August.
"I may miss a couple of matches but that's fine because I want to be ready for when I play my first game."
