Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard is looking forward to next year's Christmas in New York.

It isn't the amount of matches the former Chelsea and England star is looking to get away from, it's the time that he has to spend away from his children which the 36-year-old misses most.

"I'm a big boy," Lampard told The Times. "I will miss it a bit [spending Christmas with kids] but I do love the build-up to Christmas.

"So I'll dip in and out and do the winter-wonderland stuff at home with the kids, going out and just walking round the market, and take this one on the chin, I think.

"Hopefully this will be the last one. In New York they get Christmas off."
