Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard will join New York City FC the highest paid in MLS.
The Chelsea legend will be earning a $6million (£3.8million) annual salary plus a 'marketing bonus', according to Sports Illustrated.
Other MLS players to earn $6million or more include Lampard's New York City teammate David Villa, former Brazil midfielder Kaka - now with Orlando City - and Toronto FC's Michael Bradley.
Steven Gerrard, who will join LA Galaxy this summer after deciding not to extend his contract at Liverpool, will earn a roughly equivalent wage.
