Man City manager Guardiola: Foden can handle the pressure

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken about the pressure on the shoulders of youngster Phil Foden.

The attacking midfielder is likely to take on an even more prominent role with the team this season, given the departures of Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.

Guardiola, though, has no doubts that Foden has what it takes to lead the team's creativity next season.

"I feel that he can handle the pressure," he said to the club's website.

"He's still enjoying playing football, he has to feel that he can improve. His career will be up and down, that's for sure, as footballers, they are up and down. It's not all his career winning Premier Leagues and being top.

"But if he still remains the passion that he has to play in football, to enjoy with the ball, and to every day have the ball, you see his eyes, how bright they are.

"When that's going to happen, Phil always will be there, and the future, he will retire, we will see what he has done, but absolutely it belongs to him."
