Manchester United and Manchester City are at loggerheads over the reputation of their respective academies.

The Daily Mail says City have made much of United players Robin van Persie and Darren Fletcher, coach Phil Neville plus ambassador Andy Cole having kids in City's state-of-the-art academy.

United point out that their youth structure prepares more players for a football career - even if they don't make it at Old Trafford - than any other club.
