Manchester City are making an offer for Palermo striker Edinson Cavani.
Sky Sport Italia says Manchester City have leapt to the top of the race to sign the Uruguayan hitman.
He has a buy-out clause in his contract worth £24m, but City hope that their offer of £19m will be enough to tempt a sale.
Palermo no longer need Cavani, who scored 13 Serie A goals this season and is in Uruguay's World Cup squad.
This is because Abel Hernandez impressed as a supersub, while deals have been struck for Mauricio Pinilla and Siena's Massimo Maccarone.
