Manchester City remain hopeful Phil Foden will start the new Premier League season.

The 21-year-old is still wearing a protective boot on his right foot after picking up an injury before England's Euro 2020 final loss to Italy.

Foden has been granted an extended break following international duty.

City are confident Foden will be fit for their Premier League opener against Tottenham Hotspur on August 15, per ESPN.

Foden played a starring role for City last season, scoring 16 goals in 50 appearances.
