Man City fullback Benjamin Mendy says he's clear of coronavirus

Manchester City fullback Benjamin Mendy says he's clear of the coronavirus.

Last week Mendy, 25, was advised by the club to self-isolate for 72 hours while tests were carried out.

As a consequence, Pep Guardiola's first-team squad saw a training session planned for Friday afternoon cancelled.

But Mendy learned the good news his family had received the all clear and is expecting to be given the thumbs up to resume training with his team-mates.

The Frenchman took to Instagram to send a message of thanks to his 2.9million followers.

He posted a video of himself talking in French alngside an English message that read: "Good morning everyone.

"First of all, I would like to thank you for your numerous messages of support following the news about my quarantine.

"Today, the results were negative for those around me.

"But it is important that everyone takes their responsibilities in this delicate period, to protect you but above all to protect the weakest in the face of the epidemic.

"I therefore invite you to follow the instructions given by the WHO in order to stop the spread of the virus as quickly as possible and to get back to normal.

"Take care of yourself and your beloved ones."
