Manchester City are focusing on closing a deal for Porto midfielder Fernando this week.
The Manchester Evening News says having landed Bacary Sagna on a free from Arsenal, the Blues are confident Porto midfielder Fernando will be next in followed by a centre-half.
The defensive midfielder, who has also attracted interest from Everton, would compete with Fernandinho and Yaya Toure.
Indications are that the Brazil-born player, who now has Portuguese citizenship, will be signed up by the end of the month.
