Man City finishing first is main priority - Pellegrini

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini is prioritising winning the Premier League title over extending his contract next season.

City endured a below-par campaign last season and finished up empty-handed despite their huge investment.

As a result, Pellegrini's job security at the Etihad has come under intense scrutiny and with the Chilean having only a year to run on his current deal, there are doubts as to whether he will carry on at City beyond the end of next season.

However, Pellegrini is not fretting too much regarding his long-term future and has insisted that he is only focused on reclaiming the Premier League crown from Chelsea ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Pellegrini said: "We have to finish first the next season and then we will see what happens after that.

"It's important to focus on the next season and after that we will see what happens in the future. It is not important."
