Manchester City are planning a double raid on Athletic Bilbao's midfield.

The Daily Star Sunday says City are eyeing the Basque club, with the versatile Javi Martinez and midfielder Ander Herrera the targets.

Herrera, 22, is valued at £16m and was watched four days ago against Granada by City football executive Brian Marwood.

But Bilbao's players are difficult to sign, with the club paying huge wages and putting big buy-out clauses in their contracts.
