Manchester City are confident of seeing off rivals for Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko.
The Daily Mail says City insist no talks have yet taken place with the Bosnia international's representatives, it is understood they have expressed their interest and are aware that his £35million buy-out clause expires on Monday.
New Wolfsburg manager Steve McClaren this week said he wanted to keep the 24-year-old who has scored 54 goals in 94 games for the Bundesliga side but it looks increasingly likely he will leave.
Bayern Munich thought they were in pole position for Dzeko as they could financially outmuscle interest from Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal with the player's first love AC Milan weighing up other targets.
Yet City's arrival on the scene is a big concern for the Germans.
Mark Hughes wanted Dzeko last summer before switching his sights and now Roberto Mancini has picked up the baton again.
