Man City chief Marwood: We'll be ready for FFP

Manchester City chief Brian Marwood insists they can handle UEFA's Financial Fair Play plans.

City will strive to ensure that local kids are at the forefront of their youth revolution.

But Marwood admitted that the global nature of the Premier League means the club must also continue to scour the world for the best young talent.

Marwood told the Sunday Mirror: "FFP wasn't on the agenda when Sheikh Mansour bought Manchester City, but his plan was always to make this a sustainable club. We are very proud of the history of our Academy, but it was clear that we would have to implement a number of things if we wanted to take it to the level where we could produce a Yaya Toure, David Silva or Patrick Vieira.

"That's the benchmark for this club now and the harsh reality is that it will happen through the development of local boys or bringing in players from abroad.

"We have players in our Elite Development Squad who come from England as well as Spain, Norway and France.

"That's something every club has to deal with now because it is such a global game."
