Manuel Pellegrini insists he never had doubts regarding the commitment of Yaya Toure to Manchester City.
The 32-year old midfielder has recently been linked with a summer move to Inter Milan after it was suggested he had grown tired of being a City player.
However, Toure's double in Sunday's 4-2 win at Swansea City - which delivered Champions League football for next season - indicated to Pellegrini that the powerful Ivorian still has City's best interests at heart.
"I didn't have any doubt about Yaya," Pellegrini told Sky Sports.
"Maybe the media started with him after his birthday. After that he went to the Africa Cup (of Nations) and we couldn't win (the Premier League).
"Maybe an important player has more criticism, but I never had doubts what he is like as a player and his commitment to the team."
