Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini says Frank Lampard has made it clear he wants to stay.
City have been in discussions with their sister club New York City FC over the 36-year-old's future.
Asked about on-going negotiations with the former Chelsea star, who has scored six goals this season, Pellegrini said: "I am positive. I think Frank is a very important player. I hope he will continue here from now until the end of the season."
Asked if Lampard had indicated a desire to remain at the club, he confirmed: "Yes, he has."
