Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini intends to turn up the heat on AS Roma over Daniele de Rossi's situation in the coming weeks.

With Yaya Toure due to leave in the New Year for Ivory Coast's African Nations Cup campaign and Nigel de Jong's fitness a concern, Mancini wants to sign De Rossi in January, says TMW.

The City boss has been talking almost daily with his staff about De Rossi and where he can fit into their playing system.

The Italy international is inside the final year of his current deal and while Roma chief Walter Sabatini is optimistic he will re-sign in the end, Mancini will continue to push City to bring the midfielder to Etihad in January.
