Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini is chasing Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

The People says the experienced striker is set to quit German giants Schalke at the end of the season - and possibly in the January window - with his contract running out and his camp looking for a new challenge.

As an out-and-out striker Huntelaar is the type of player City have lacked, and he showed his threat against top domestic defenders in the Champions League clashes with Arsenal.

Huntelaar is free to negotiate from January 1 and City could agree a pre-contract quickly, then either wait for the summer to take him for nothing or offer a low fee to bring him in sooner.
