Manchester City are pushing to land FC Basle winger Xherdan Shaqiri.

City boss Roberto Mancini wants to land a new wide player in January and Swiss sources say he is serious about Shaqiri.

Indeed at Basle, an offer of £10 million is expected from City for the winger.

Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Lazio, AC Milan and Hamburg are also in contact with Basle, but insiders say they will all accept defeat should Mancini make a formal move for Shaqiri.
