Manchester City boss Mark Hughes was happy with the Premiership debut of Ched Evans in yesterday's defeat to Aston Villa.

Hughes said: "We wanted to get a bit more creative further up the field, so Elano was in to do that but my options were a little bit hampered even prior to the game. I thought Ched was excellent, he chased everything down and showed endeavour. But it was a big ask for a young player to carry the fight in his first start in the Premier League."
