Man City boss Guardiola: My successor isn't my business, but...

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola says the club's succession plan is "none of my business".

Guardiola insists his successor will not be chosen by him.

"It's none of my business," he said.

"If the chairman asks my opinion I will give my opinion but it's none of my business. I'm not sporting director. It's not my responsibility to say what's going right or wrong. I have friends here. If they ask a question [I will answer]."

Guardiola, however, also said: "I don't know how many years for this idea the way we play for the academy. I would say continue with the idea.

"In terms of the type of players we want, I say keep going with that. But I don't take the decisions because I'm a manager. If I wanted to be sporting director I would take it.

"You have to be the idea of the club, the sporting director follows the idea, hire the manager for this idea, hire players to follow the idea. When that happens it's going well. When some of these four ideas are not going in the same position, now you are in trouble.

"Man City have done it, Liverpool with Jurgen [Klopp] for many years, winning titles with the same process and same ideas. You can win or lose but always you are a stable club. This is the advice I give to the club."
