Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola heaped praise on Ilkay Gundogan after their Champions League victory against Borussia Monchengladbach.

Gundogan has been outstanding for City this season and his manager declared the German among the best players he's ever worked with.

Guardiola said afterwards, "He always had a sense of goal, even when he was playing in Dortmund. He is an incredibly kind boy, he is one of those players of which I can say that I will never forget the time we spent together.

"He is among the wisest I have ever coached, and when he gets close to goal this year he always scores: I am happy with his performance, as well as that of the whole team."
