Man City boss Eriksson admits injury luck

Manchester City's fine start to the season has not changed Sven-Goran Eriksson's mind about signing new players once the transfer window opens.

City maintained their 100% home record - and third place in the Premier League table - with a comfortable triumph over Middlesbrough at Eastlands on Sunday.

Yet Eriksson refuses to be fooled by a league position which places City above Liverpool and Chelsea and still does not believe he has enough cover to cater for a sustained spell of injuries.

It is a situation Eriksson has already discussed with new owner Thaksin Shinawatra and is the reason why, when the transfer window opens in January, the former England manager will be one of the first people through it.

"We will be bringing some new players into the club in January," said Eriksson. "That is what I have heard and the people above me are saying yes. "I don't see any big problems but one thing that might be is injuries.

"I wouldn't say we have been lucky but there have only been a few so far this season and I think we might struggle if we get a lot."
