Manchester City are closing in on Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fernandinho.

The Brazilian is on a list of targets drawn up by boss Roberto Mancini, says The Sun.

Midfielder Fernandinho has a contract with the Ukrainian club until 2016. But Shakhtar may be tempted to cash in for an offer of around £20million.

And that could be of interest to City, who are ready to spend big again in a bid to mount another serious title tilt and improve their Champions League showing.
