Manchester City are facing disappointment in their pursuit of Corinthians midfielder Paulinho.
City boss Roberto Mancini wanted Brazilian star Paulinho but neither his club Corinthians nor the player encouraged their approach last month.
The defending Premier League champs are maintaining contact and will bid for the midfielder if given any encouragement.
