Tottenham have rejected a shock approach from Manchester City for Luka Modric. The Daily Star Sunday says Spurs have dismissed the idea of Modric going to Manchester City in a deal that would finally take Emmanuel Adebayor to White Hart Lane.
City manager Roberto Mancini is understood to be keen to have Modric at the Etihad Stadium - even though signing a midfielder is not a priority for the Premier League champions.
But Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is continuing to play hardball over Modric, 26, and wants only a straight cash transfer of £30million-plus.
Any City deal would have been Adebayor plus cash.
There is a stand-off over Modric with Real Madrid, who have offered £27m - but Jose Mourinho's club were considering increasing their offer last weekend.
