Manchester City striker Craig Bellamy is the shock favourite to succeed Dave Jones at Cardiff City.
The Daily Mail says Bellamy is a leading contender to replace Jones, who was sacked as Cardiff boss after the club's play-off failure.
Bellamy is still contracted to Manchester City but would jump at the chance to take charge at his home-town team in a player-manager role.
Just a few weeks ago, the striker insisted he 'definitely' wanted to stay at Cardiff if he could secure another season-long move from Eastlands because he is determined to get the club promoted.
But it remains to be seen whether City's powerbrokers would sanction the write-off of Bellamy's £90,000-a-week wage over the next 12 months, which would allow the 31-year-old to become Cardiff manager.
