Manchester City are set to beat Arsenal for £22 million Bordeaux midfielder Yoann Gourcuff.
The Mirror says Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has kept tabs on the 24-year-old in case he fails to hold off Barcelona and keep skipper Cesc Fabregas at the Emirates.
But while Wenger believes he will win his fight to retain Fabregas, City are poised to nip in and take Gourcuff from Bordeaux.
The Eastlands outfit are the only club willing to meet Bordeaux's valuation for the former AC Milan man, who has scored 23 goals in the past two seasons under new France coach Laurent Blanc.
