Man City ace Gundogan talks Real Madrid offer; coaching future

Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan won't rule out a future move to Spain.

Amid the coronavirus suspension, Gundogan and City are preparing for the second-long of their Champions League quarterfinal with Real Madrid - with the English giants leading 1-0 on aggregate.

Gundogan, speaking with Marca, revealed he was close to joining Real in the past.

"There were many conversations with different clubs that year (2013), it is true. With clubs from Spain, but also from Italy. But I cannot say more and tell what happened behind the scenes. That is between me and the clubs," he laughed.

"The Spanish LaLiga is one of the best in the world, it is very attractive, how can I deny it? But my last contract renewal was very recently. I am very happy in Manchester and I have not stopped to think about what may come in the future."

It was also put to Gundogan he could eventually enter coaching.

"We will see, we will see. It could be. During my soccer career I have learned and I am still learning a lot, because I can say that I have had the privilege of having the best coaches. Guardiola, Klopp, Tuchel, Löw ... How many players can say that they have been trained by them. So yes, I could have a coaching career in the future."
