Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has explained missing his spotkick in victory at Liverpool.
Gundogan scored twice as City won 4-1 at Anfield to go five points clear at the top of the Premier League and open up a 10-point gap over the reigning champions.
But the midfielder must have thought he had jeopardised his side's title chances after blowing a chance to give the visitors the lead during a cagey first half.
After the game, Gundogan joked he was just getting in the mood for Sunday night's Superbowl.
"When they tell you it's #SuperBowl and a Field Goal is worth 3 points..." he wrote on Twitter, along with a picture of his spot-kick sailing into the stands.
