Mainz have informed Leicester City that striker Shinji Okazaki will not be sold this month.
BILD reports City had been linked with Okazaki amidst reports they had tabled a £8 million bid for the 28-year-old.
Japanese reporters said that Okazaki had indicated he was interested in coming to the Premier League but according Mainz have decided he is not for sale.
"The risk is too great in this situation," said Mainz manager Christian Heidel. "If he goes, I am left with no striker."
