Mackay says Maguire can handle Man Utd move

Scottish football chief Malky Mackay says Harry Maguire can handle a move to Manchester United.

Mackay managed the Leicester City defender when in charge of Wigan Athletic.

He told Sky Sports: "It's a great compliment to himself, he's gone into Leicester and to break into a central defence with good centre-backs already he's kicked on there.

"The fact that he's now got two of the top clubs in the country looking for a top English centre back who's very well established now in the England team, it's great credit to the boy himself and the coaches in the last two or three years that have developed him.

"It's a lot of different factors, there's a work ethic, every day you have to prove yourself. Also being grounded, being humble and listening to coaches all the way along, he's never changed and you see the rewards of players who are like that. They're the top top players.

"For me to see him, if he stays or decides to move on, do I see him slipping into that seamlessly? Yes I do."
