Olympique Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas admits Karim Benzema was desperate to join Real Madrid. Aulas has confirmed a widely held belief that Manchester United offered more than Real when Benzema was put up for sale by OL in 2009.
"He had always dreamed of playing for Real Madrid, and when things started to materialize he did not want to go against that decision," recalled Aulas.
"The proposition of Manchester United was superior, but we offered him the opportunity to go where he wanted to go."
