Lyon manager Hubert Fournier has spoken of his delight at signing Rafael from Manchester United.
The 25-year-old Brazilian right-back has joined the French club on a four-year deal for a fee of around £2.5million and the les Gones boss was thrilled to have lured such a quality player to the Stade de Gerland.
"We were following Rafael for a long time," Fournier told the club's official website.
"He's a very talented player and was much loved by the Manchester United fans.
"He's an important reinforcement, especially given the busy schedule we will have from September onwards."
Fournier also highlighted Rafael's versatility, adding: "He can play on the left of defence and even sometimes higher up the pitch.
"His profile corresponds with Olympique Lyonnais' attacking philosophy."
