Lyon 2-0 Benfica: Ten-man Benfica not match for Lyon

French club Lyon have extended their record to three wins from three matches in the Champions League with a 2-0 win over Portugal's Benfica.

Jimmy Briand struck first for the home side with an impressive header in the 21st minute before Benfica were reduced to ten man when Nicolas Gaitan was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence two minutes before half-time.

Lyon capitalised on the man advantage by adding a second through Lisandro Lopez in the 51st minute which was enough to see them stay top in Group B, three points clear of Schalke.
