Luton players to be paid next week

Luton players will be paid next week for the first time since October after the League One club's FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

Kevin Blackwell's squad have not been paid since the troubled club went into administration but their agreement to defer all their wages with the club was due to expire on Friday.

But after Calvin Andrew's header earned them a televised third-round tie at home to Liverpool with a 1-0 win over Forest on Tuesday night the club's administrators have agreed to pay the players a proportion of their wages.

Joint administrator Brendan Guilfoyle said: "We are making a part payment to the players next week.

"It is a relief for everyone and while it is not everything it's a start.

"They have also renewed their deferral agreements until January 3 with respect to the other monies they are due."
