Luiz nightmare as Man City put three past tepid Arsenal

Manchester City have romped past Arsenal with a 3-0 victory at the Etihad on Wednesday.

Three months might have passed but the Gunners endured the same problems as their defence capitulated against a dominant City outfit.

David Luiz was brought on as a first-half substitute from Pablo Mari, who suffered an injury, and the Brazilian had a significant impact on the game.

First the Brazilian's mistake allowed Raheem Sterling to open the scoring in first-half injury time.

Then the 33-year-old defender got himself sent off early in the second half after dragging down Riyad Mahrez.

All in all it was an instrumental 25-minute cameo for Luiz, but for all the wrong reasons.

Kevin De Bruyne then added a second with an emphatic strike past Bernd Leno, before Phil Foden scored in the dying minutes to round off the victory.

To compound issues for Arsenal, they also lost midfielder Granit Xhaka to injury.

The defeat means Mikel Arteta's side are looking increasingly unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season as they remain in ninth place on the table.
