Lionel Messi fired Barcelona to victory at Atletico Madrid and title glory yesterday.

Barca dominated for the majority of the first half but took until the 65th minute to open the scoring and clinch the three points needed to seal their 23rd Spanish title with a game to go.

Barca had goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to thank for holding the hosts at bay as they held on in the second half, where efforts from Messi and Neymar could have doubled their margin of victory.

Luis Enrique, Barca's coach, said: "This is a moment to remember all the people who have helped us win this title, everyone - especially our fans.

"This team deserved the win and we are all really satisfied to win the league - it's the title that rewards persistence and we have shown that we are have been at a great level."
