Luigi di Biagio has been named new coach of SPAL.
Di Biagio replaces Leonardo Semplici, who had been with the club since 2014 and brought them up from Serie C to A, was given his marching orders yesterday after a poor run of results.
He will sign a six month contract, with an option to extend for a further season.
Di Biagio has never coached in club football, leaving the Italy U21 job in the process.
