LOAN WATCH: Liverpool keeper Ward makes EFL Team of the Week with Huddersfield

Danny Ward continued his stellar form for Huddersfield Town with a well-deserved clean sheet on Saturday.

The Liverpool goalkeeper denied Wolverhampton Wanderers on a number of occasions to help his loan club to a 1-0 victory at John Smith's Stadium, as David Wagner's Terriers went top of the Championship table

Rajiv van La Parra fired home his first Terriers goal in the sixth minute before Ward made a handful of saves, including an absolute world-class stop to deny Jon Dadi Bodvarsson's close range header on 68 minutes.

The performance earned Ward a spot in the English Football League's Team of the Week:

Helping Ward secure a fourth win in five league games were Chelsea youngster Kasey Palmer, who played 57 minutes, and Manchester City midfielder Aaron Mooy who completed a full 90 minutes with yet another consistent display in his holding midfield role.

Huddersfield boss Wagner was delighted with the performance of Wales international Ward: "He was outstanding for us.

“He kept us in the game during a difficult period for us."

While the 23-year-old preferred to share his first clean sheet with his teammates.

“It should have come a bit sooner," he told HTTV.

“Things don't go your way but it's like a striker getting his first goal. You get the monkey off the back, but it's not just for myself, it's for the whole team.

“We all worked hard as a unit there and I think it's shown at the end."
