LOAN WATCH: Chelsea youngster Traore opens Ajax account

Bertrand Traore scored a crucial maiden goal for loan club Ajax on Thursday night.

The Burkina Faso forward, on loan from Chelsea, opened his scoring account for the Dutch giants in their eventual 2-1 Europa League win over Greek side Panathinaikos.

On his Europa League debut, 21-year-old Traore equalised for the Amsterdam club in the 34th minute after Sweden international Marcus Berg had put the home side ahead in Athens.

Traore received the ball on the edge of the area and with a near-nonchalant fashion, drove a sweetly-timed left-footed effort inside former Manchester United youngster and Barnsley keeper Luke Steele's near post.

Ajax completed their comeback in the 67th minute when Jairo Riedewald followed up Davy Klaassen's saved spot-kick in a match that saw the home side reduced to nine men and the visitors receive one re card.

Trader's goal was his first for Peter Bosz's Ajax following four Eredivisie appearances and two Champions League qualifiers.
