LOAN WATCH: Aston Villa's Cleverley hits out at Man Utd critics

Tom Cleverley has blasted Manchester United fans who criticized him during the 2013-14 Premier League season.

The 25-year old midfielder was often the scapegoat for United's poor performances last term and was a constant subject for ridicule from many Red Devils fans on social network sites throughout the campaign.

Cleverley, who has previously spent time on loan with Leicester City, Watford and Wigan Athletic, now finds himself at Aston Villa for a 12-month spell and is looking forward to proving his doubters wrong while in the West Midlands.

"You don't turn into a bad player just because someone says it on Twitter," Cleverley said.

"I probably wasn't the only United player to get it last year. For as long as Man United aren't winning trophies, players will get criticised. I'm fully aware of that.

"I've still got a league title, 13 England caps."
