Livorno president Aldo Spinelli has revealed they're in talks with Manchester City over the sale of goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

"The talks with Manchester City are already underway," revealed Spinelli yesterday afternoon. "Before August 22, Sven Goran Eriksson's emissaries will arrive here."

On rival interest from Lazio, Spinelli was adamant: "Lazio made a move for Amelia too late in the day.

"Besides, Amelia is certainly worth more than the £5m offered by the Biancocelesti."
